Money, grain, livestock—and apparently one very tired rancher.
Thousands of years ago, the Sumerians preserved an observation about prosperity that still sounds remarkably familiar to anyone who has ever been responsible for animals:
“He who has silver is happy. He who has grain feels comfortable. But he who has livestock cannot sleep.”
Silver can buy things. Grain can provide security. Livestock, however, can get sick, escape, make strange noises at 2:00 in the morning, or simply give you something new to worry about.
Some parts of ranch life apparently haven't changed much in four thousand years.
English translation:
