Decree Your Own Fate
Two ancient Sumerian signs. One very modern challenge.
The Sumerian expression nam-tar is associated with fate and with the act of determining or decreeing fate. This WSR Tees design takes that ancient concept and turns it into a modern imperative:
Decree Your Own Fate.
Unlike the translated proverbs elsewhere in the Sumerian Wisdom collection, “Decree Your Own Fate” is a modern interpretation, not an ancient Sumerian quotation. The design is inspired by the Sumerian expression nam-tar and its connection with fate and destiny.
Sumerian: 𒉆𒋻
Transliteration:
nam-tar
Meaning:
fate; destiny; to decree or determine fate, depending on grammatical context
Modern interpretation:
“Decree Your Own Fate.”
The cuneiform takes center stage, allowing a writing system thousands of years old to carry a message that feels thoroughly at home today.
Shirts that inspire conversation.
